Tom Sermanni: New USA Head Coach has Both National Team and Domestic League Experience

Tom Sermanni's experience managing a national team and a budding domestic league seems to have been the rationale behind his recent hire to lead the USA Women's National Team to the next Women's World Cup 2015 in Canada.

In addition to holding the role of Head Coach of Australia's national team for eight years (2006-2012) Sermanni was a coach in the first ever American pro-league, the now-defunct WUSA (2001-2003). He also saw the semi-pro Westfield W-League in Australia evolve in parallel to the Australian National Team. The serious domestic competition helps players evolve and provides a platform for the National Team to scout players.

Sermanni is also a proven manager of new, young talent, which will be a critical factor in the evolution of the USA team.
