Sinclair Becomes First Soccer Player to Win Canada's Top Athlete Award

Canadian soccer player Christine Sinclair became the first soccer player to ever win the 76-year-old Lou Marsh Award as Canada's Top Athlete, joining legends like Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, Steve Nash, Donovan Bailey and Terry Fox.

The award tops a long list of accolades including:

NCAA Women's Athlete of the Year
2 M.A.C Hermann Trophies
2 NCAA Championships, with the University of Portland Pilots in 2002 and 2005
3 World Cup appearances
2 Olympics appearance, scoring a tournament-high six goals at London 2012 on way to a bronze medal and being named Canada's flagbearer at the closing ceremonies.
6 FIFA World Player of the Year nominations
8 Canada Soccer Player of the Year awards
WPS Champion and MVP
