What I mean is, soccer organizations can showcase their news to the world in other ways. Let's take a trip around the world looking at clubs and how the story around a big event unfolded on their club websites. Hang with me.
First one up is Swedish club Tyresö FF, home team of the Brazilian Marta and Spainard Veronica Boquete. This month the club won the league championships in front of a TV4 Sport audience of 200,000 - the most ever to watch a women's socer league game on Swedish television, according to Our Game Magazine - sending thousands of fans, players and media to their website.
The image below is the club's home page after Tyresö won the championship. I love the simplicity of the headline "Vi höll vad vi lovade! SM-Guld 2012!" which translated is "We did what we promised! SM-Gold 2012!". The headline is powerful, it speaks to the fans, making it inclusive, showing that the result was also for them not just the team and players.
The visual is energetic and dynamic. But it also left me wanting to see more - it might be because I don't speak Swedish and can't read the recap, but I also think that it's true that any time there is a big event, there is a premium on strong visuals that can show the emotion, energy and experience. None were featured on the website, perhaps due to lack of control around the website template. So instead, they linked to their Facebook page where they curated a gallery - scroll below to take a look.
